Physical injury can cause feelings of depression and anxiety as it disrupts normal functioning. Physical therapists see patients who may be experiencing these feelings acutely. Knowing the signs and symptoms of suicide risk makes it easier to help connect the person to the resources they need and to assist in their overall recovery process, both mentally and physically.

This presentation will define what depression looks like and how it can impact people in different ways. It will also identify the risk factors that contribute to depression and can lead to suicidal thoughts. Once the warning signs of suicide are identified, various interventions and responses will be discussed as well as how to best support someone who may be at risk for suicide.

Megan Walsh, LCPC shares her knowledge and expertise on "Understanding and Identifying Suicide Risks".
